So let\u2019s look at some potential signs of stress eating and tips to keep you on track.<\/p>\n<h2>Signs of Emotional Eating<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Eating without realizing it &#8211; \u201cMindless Eating\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Feeling guilty or regretful after eating<\/li>\n<li>Resorting to comfort foods in times of stress or to feel better emotionally<\/li>\n<li>Eating out of boredom<\/li>\n<li>Eating alone (particularly on unhealthy foods)<\/li>\n<li>Using Food as a Reward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Tips to Avoid Emotional Eating<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Learn to Identify Emotional Triggers<\/li>\n<li>Eat only when you are truly hungry<\/li>\n<li>Recognize and validate your feelings<\/li>\n<li>Remove the temptation of comfort foods<\/li>\n<li>Pre-portion foods you tend to binge on<\/li>\n<li>Substitute healthy behaviors for stress eating<\/li>\n<li>Learn from setbacks and don\u2019t beat yourself up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Avoiding emotional eating can be difficult because it&#8217;s linked to feelings of stress, guilt, and inadequacy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 It&#8217;s key to r<\/span>ecognize these are feelings and not hunger.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>At times when you would typically reach for unhealthy foods, establish new and productive habits.
