Maximize your intake of green foods, eat yellow foods occasionally, and eat red foods minimally or not at all.

Heart Healthy Badge: This badge indicates if a food is good for cardiovascular health but also fits within a ketogenic diet. Prioritizing these foods is highly recommended by our team.

These badges are determined by Keyto’s proprietary algorithm, which is based on the best scientific evidence and top expert opinion. Use these badges to guide your food selection to ensure you stay on track with the least amount of effort.

Keyto Rating Badge

A food’s Keyto Rating is based on important nutritional information, including net carb content and fat composition. Limiting net carbs is a key factor to reach and maintain ketosis, the state when your body starts using fat for fuel.

Eating enough fat from food is essential. Plants contain the most healthy fats – monounsaturated and polyunsaturated (mostly omega 3) fat.

Look at the color of the Keyto Rating Badge to know what foods to eat:

Green – Prioritize these foods for meals and snacks

Yellow – Think before you eat

Red – Should generally be avoided

The most simple, yet effective way to follow the Keyto program is to eat mostly foods that have a green badge. Foods with yellow badges can still fit into your Keyto diet, but we recommend you think before you eat them. Some yellow foods have a slightly higher net carb content. Other yellow foods have higher levels of saturated fat, which is less optimal than unsaturated fat.

Other examples of yellow foods include lower-carb alternatives to breads/pasta, higher-carb veggies, certain keto-friendly desserts, and fruits.

Red

Banana – (24g net carbs/medium banana)

Bananas are a red food because they contain a high amount of net carbs. Foods marked with a Red Badge should be avoided as they are not compatible with the Keyto program.

Other common common examples of red foods include bread, pasta, grains, high-sugar fruits and vegetables, potato chips, desserts, sushi rolls, sugary snacks, soda, raw sugar, high-sugar condiments, and candy.

Conclusion

The Keyto food search is the simplest way to make the best food choices for a healthy ketogenic diet.
