What should I drink on Keyto?

Maintaining adequate hydration is important, especially when you first start Keyto. In the beginning, your kidneys undergo changes causing you to excrete more sodium and water than usual. The best option to replenish lost fluids is water. Increasing dietary salt also helps you hold onto the water you drink.

In addition to  water, a great source of both hydration and salt is bullion or broth. It’s tasty, filling, and one of our highest recommended foods for getting into and staying in ketosis. Here are some other good fluids for Keyto.

  • Water
  • Broth
  • Sparkling water, seltzer, club soda (sugar-free)
  • Coffee and tea (careful what you add!)
  • Low-carb dairy alternatives (almond, coconut, flax, hemp)

Zero-Calorie Drinks

While these drinks have no sugar, they are not as good as water, broth, or coffee.

Artificial sweeteners may have undesirable effects on blood glucose, gut health, cravings, and may affect ketosis negatively. However they are less bad than sugary drinks.

Having no-sugar drinks is a personal preference and you can use your Keyto device to measure their affect on your level of ketosis.

Here are some examples of sugar free drinks:

  • Diet Soda
  • Water enhancers containing artificial sweeteners
    • Mio, Crystal Light, Stur, Skinnygirl, Dasani Drops
  • Zero/low-calorie sports drinks
    • Gatorade Zero, Powerade Zero, Vitamin Water Zero
  • Zero/low calorie energy drinks
    • Red Bull Total Zero, Rockstar Pure Zero
