In order to get an accurate Keyto measurement, it is important to blow into the device properly. Here is a video by Dr. Ethan J. Weiss, a preventative cardiologist at UCSF, that demonstrates the proper technique:
- Make sure to keep the Keyto away from your mouth during the warmup process.
- The Keyto will heat up, and when ready, the App will tell you when to blow.
- No need to take a deep breath before blowing. This may feel unnatural, but taking a deep breath is not necessary. Just start blowing from wherever your breath is.
- Blow with medium strength. Not too hard, not too soft.
- Make sure to get to the bottom of your breath (i.e. run out of air) by the end of the 10 second countdown. The acetone we want to measure sits at the bottom of your lungs.
***If you run out of air before the end of the 10 seconds, it’s totally OK! No need to take another breath.
